nFuse is a Multi-Cloud Application Managed Services provider. We take application management off our customers' hands: every day we watch the operation, availability and performance of applications, websites and e-commerce environments. We spot problems before users feel them and analyse them to the root. Where we've agreed with the customer that we step in ourselves, we resolve it ourselves; for everything else, we set the right party in motion. We do that on top of the three largest cloud platforms — AWS, Azure and GCP — with monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic and Dynatrace.
We're looking for a senior engineer to strengthen our team: someone who enjoys a technical challenge and thinks in command prompts, logs, traces and metrics. Someone who takes ownership of complex application environments, goes for quality and goes the extra mile for the customer.
Responsibilities
- You're the point of contact for the technical contacts at our customers, working closely with their development teams, our partners and our Service Level Managers.
- You take on second-line support: you analyse incidents at application level, pinpoint what's going on and follow them through until they're resolved. When the fix falls within what's agreed with the customer, you carry out the necessary actions yourself — during office hours. On top of that, roughly every 7 to 8 weeks you're on stand-by outside office hours, as part of our 24/7 service.
- You safeguard the performance and availability of our customers' applications, working mainly with APM and RUM, and translate what you see there into concrete improvement proposals.
- You initiate and coordinate incidents towards the right party when the solution lies elsewhere — whether that's the customer, the development team or a cloud provider — and track them through to the root cause.
- You turn your analyses into clear reports: think periodic performance reporting and RCAs after incidents. Our Service Level Managers use these in their conversations with the customer.
- You set up the monitoring and get everything out of Datadog, New Relic and Dynatrace to make applications observable, with the instrumentation, dashboards and alerting that show us a problem before it escalates.
- You take the initiative to continuously improve our internal ways of working and the quality of our service.
- As a senior, you're the technical anchor in the team: you coach less experienced colleagues, safeguard the quality of our analyses and take the lead during escalations.
Who we're looking for
- Someone who actively strengthens our values: Together, Transparent, Ownership, Compliant.
- You have at least 8 years of hands-on experience in a technical environment, several of them in application management, operations or second-line support.
- You feel at home in a role where the application takes centre stage. You dig into logs, traces and metrics to determine where a problem sits. You don't write application code yourself and you don't build infrastructure from scratch — you keep everything running and performant.
- You know Datadog, New Relic and Dynatrace as more than a user: you know how to use them to truly understand an application, from APM and traces to RUM, custom dashboards, meaningful alerting and synthetic checks.
- The environments you manage run on Linux, so the command line holds no fears for you. Windows server administration is not part of this job.
- You have experience working under SLAs and with ITIL processes such as incident, problem and change management.
- Alongside Dutch, you can communicate professionally in English. You put a technical analysis clearly on paper, also for a reader who isn't technical themselves.
- You have an analytical mind with an eye for detail — a complex problem gives you energy.
- Like us, you're convinced that good teamwork gets you further. You're also happy working independently.
- You know these tools and technologies and ideally have already built up experience with at least some of them: Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, Linux OS, AWS, Azure, GCP, application stacks such as Java and Node.js, HTTP & OSI, SQL, Bash & Python, Jira Service Management.
Why work with us?
- Challenging projects: work with leading customers in complex environments, with the chance to join us on customer visits.
- High impact and room to explore your ideas to keep improving the way we work.
- Short lines: no layers to get through. Got a proposal or stuck on something? You talk directly to the coordinator or the managing partner.
- Growth & support: an environment where we support you to grow further as an nFuse Application Managed Services Specialist, with tailored training and certification opportunities and room to help shape your senior role.
- A great office on the Corda Campus in Hasselt, where you sit with the team four days a week.
- A permanent contract, a competitive salary, compensation for your stand-by duties, a company car with fuel/charging card, and a full package of other benefits.
